Scott Harbison

  • Scott Harbison is a highly regarded self-taught artist based in Newark, New Jersey. Growing up in Roxbury, he developed a deep passion for cartoons at a young age, which helped him channel his hyperactive mind. Drawing became his go-to form of expression and continued to be a constant throughout his life.

    In his early teens, Scott discovered rock music and joined an original rock band, which led him to perform in the punk rock scene in New York City's East Village. He quickly became the band's frontman, showcasing his natural talent for performing and commanding the stage.

    Over the years, Scott has started several other original rock bands and even ventured into the business world, starting his own plastering and painting company. However, despite his success, he found himself unfulfilled and decided to take a break from the music and business industries.

    During this hiatus, Scott returned to his love for painting, creating tirelessly on a daily basis. His artwork quickly gained recognition, with his unique style characterized by figures that pop out from the canvas, often challenging or surprising the viewer. His creatures interact in ways that can be shocking and disturbing, but always captivating.

    Scott's artwork has been exhibited in several galleries, including Akwaaba Gallery in Newark, Ivy Brown Gallery in Manhattan, and Barsky Gallery in Hoboken. In 2022, he completed a residency at ESKFF/Mana Contemporary, further cementing his place in the art world.

    Through his artwork, Scott continues to push boundaries and inspire others to create fearlessly. His experiences in the music and business industries have shaped his art, imbuing it with a raw and powerful energy that is hard to ignore. Scott's commitment to his craft is evident in every piece he creates, and his unique perspective on the world continues to captivate audiences around the world.
